ABOUT MARCEL
While growing up, I never had any interest at all in arts, except cartoons and comic books of course. My photography interest started when my wife asked for a digital camera for her birthday four years ago. I bought her a Fuji Finepix S3100 and she was really pleased with it.
What happened after that day really surprised me, I started to play with her camera, when she was not using it of course, and really enjoyed the experience of creating pictures. So I started using it more and more, but what triggered my true passion for photography was when I went to Lake Louise in Jasper. I had taken along my wife’s camera with me. The beauty and wonder of this place just inspired me and took about 1200 pictures during my stay.
After I surpassed the functions of my wife’s camera, which she never got back, I decided that it was time for me to plunge in the world of the DLSR’s. All I can say is that it changed me and my photography completely. I have found an even greater passion and appreciation for this form of art. Started out doing a lot of landscapes, architecture and wildlife, but later on found a greater passion in my photography.
My wife had asked me to take her Actor’s headshot, I agreed, but with a lot of reservations about my skills as photography to be able to handle portraits. Since that day I have been photographing headshots for local Ottawa Actors. What I did not expect was that I truly love the human connection that is made with models and the photographs. Since that first portrait, a few years back, I truly believe that I have found my artistic self.
